Question & Answers

can we climb Tirumala at night?

No, you cannot climb Tirumala at night. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, prohibits climbing the hills at night for safety reasons.

The TTD has a number of reasons for prohibiting night climbing, including:

  • Safety: The hills are dark and there are no street lights, which makes it difficult to see. This can increase the risk of accidents, such as falls and slips.
  • Security: The hills are not well-patrolled at night, which makes them more vulnerable to criminal activity.
  • Religious reasons: Some believe that it is disrespectful to climb the hills at night.

If you want to climb Tirumala, you will need to do so during the day. The hills are open from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. You can start your climb from Alipiri, which is the base of the hills. The climb takes about 3 hours.

There are a number of things you should keep in mind if you choose to climb Tirumala:

  • Wear comfortable shoes: The climb is long and steep, so you will need to wear comfortable shoes.
  • Bring water: It is important to stay hydrated, so bring plenty of water with you.
  • Take breaks: The climb is challenging, so take breaks as needed.
  • Be aware of your surroundings: The hills can be dangerous, so be aware of your surroundings and watch your step.
  • Listen to the instructions of the TTD staff: The TTD staff is there to help you, so listen to their instructions and follow their advice.

Climbing Tirumala is a challenging but rewarding experience. If you are physically fit and are willing to put in the effort, you will be rewarded with stunning views and a spiritual experience.
