Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva is a daily ritual that is performed outside the Srivari Temple, making it a unique experience for devotees. The seva is conducted in the Unjal mandapam, located on the southeast corner of the temple, at 05:30 PM every evening. The highlight of this seva is the decoration of one thousand wick lamps, creating a divine aura that engulfs the area.
The Procession of Sri Malayappa Swami, Sridevi, and Bhudevi
During the seva, Sri Malayappa Swami, along with Sridevi and Bhudevi, is taken out in a procession. The Lord is seated in an unjal in the midst of the lamps, creating a breathtaking sight. Annamaya Sankirtanas and Vedic hymns are sung to the newly wedded God and Goddesses, adding to the spiritual ambiance. On certain occasions, group dances, typically from Karnataka, are also held, adding a cultural element to the seva.
Procession on the Four Streets
As a recent practice, after the seva, the Lord and his consorts are taken on a procession on the four streets surrounding the temple, before being taken inside the temple complex. This procession is an excellent opportunity for devotees to witness the beauty of the idols and feel closer to the deity.
