Madhavam Guest House Tirupati, TTD Accommodation Near Tirupati Railway Station
Madhavam Guest House is a TTD-managed pilgrim accommodation complex in Tirupati city, opened in 2009 with 164 AC rooms and deluxe suites. It is closer to Tirupati Railway Station than Srinivasam Complex, which makes it the natural choice for pilgrims arriving by train. Booking is done in advance through the official TTD portal; rooms are allotted on an 8 AM to 8 AM 24-hour slot, with TTD waiving the caution deposit that used to be collected at check-in.
Why Madhavam suits train arrivals
The complex is approximately 1.5 km from Tirupati Railway Station, a five-minute auto ride or a 20-minute walk with luggage. Srinivasam, by comparison, is opposite the APSRTC bus stand and is the better choice for bus arrivals. Vishnu Nivasam is also near the railway station and has a larger inventory; pilgrims often choose between Madhavam and Vishnu Nivasam based on availability for their date.
Room types and tariffs
- Standard AC rooms, entry-tier, two beds, attached bathroom with hot water, AC, wardrobe
- Deluxe AC suites, larger rooms with separate sitting area, suited for families of three to four
Current tariffs are shown live on the TTD booking portal and vary between Rs. 400 and Rs. 1,500 depending on room type and season. The exact figure for your date appears at the time of selection on ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in.
How to book
- Log in to the TTD portal with the head pilgrim’s registered mobile number.
- Choose Accommodation, then Tirupati, then Madhavam.
- Select the date and room category. The advance booking window is 60 days.
- Enter the full name and government-issued photo ID for every pilgrim in the booking. Children must be added at booking, not at check-in.
- Pay through UPI, debit card or net banking. Save the booking confirmation PDF.
One practical note: the daily inventory release window is around 11:00 AM IST. Madhavam typically sells out for weekend dates within two hours of release. Booking on the morning of release with pilgrim details pre-filled is the difference between confirming a room and being shut out.
Check-in and check-out
Check-in is from 8:00 AM. Late arrivals within six hours of the selected slot are accommodated; arrivals beyond six hours past the slot may not be allotted, and the room fee is not refunded. Check-out is the following 8:00 AM (a clean 24-hour allotment cycle).
Carry: two printouts of the confirmation slip, original photo ID for every pilgrim, and proof of darshan plan if requested at the desk.
On-site facilities
- Free annaprasadam (TTD-served meals) at the on-site annaprasadam counter, breakfast, lunch and dinner at fixed slots
- Bank counter and ATM
- Free locker facility, drop bags before going up to Tirumala
- Free shuttle bus to the Alipiri Tollgate Bus Station for the journey up to Tirumala
- Open parking included in the room rate
- Medical assistance during office hours
TTD has formally waived caution deposits across Tirupati-city accommodation complexes, including Madhavam, Srinivasam and Vishnu Nivasam. Pilgrims do not need to deposit any refundable amount at check-in, only the room fee paid at booking. See TTD’s official announcement on caution deposit waiver.
Cancellation
TTD’s stated policy: all room bookings are final. Postponement, advancement and refunds are not allowed. If your plans change, the room fee is forfeit.
Madhavam vs Vishnu Nivasam, which to choose
Both are TTD-managed, both are near the railway station, both are AC-heavy inventory. Differences:
- Inventory size, Vishnu Nivasam has 408 rooms vs Madhavam’s 164. More chance of getting a Vishnu Nivasam booking for popular dates.
- Free food, Vishnu Nivasam’s 2nd floor provides complimentary annaprasadam (kadamba sadam, daddyodanam) for pilgrims staying there.
- Style, Madhavam tends to feel a bit smaller and quieter; Vishnu Nivasam has a busier, larger-complex feel.
If you have a choice, Vishnu Nivasam is the more pragmatic pick for first-time pilgrims because of the extra food benefit and larger inventory. Madhavam wins on smaller complex feel and proximity to the railway station’s main exit.
Common questions
