Can You Cancel Tirumala Accommodation, TTD Refund Policy

Yes, TTD allows cancellation of online advance accommodation bookings, with a hard deadline: cancellation must be done before midnight of the day prior to the check-in date. After that, no cancellation or refund is allowed. Early check-out before the 24-hour slot completes earns a partial refund, 50% if vacated within 12 hours of check-in, 25% if vacated between 12 and 18 hours. UPI-based bookings receive the refund directly to the source account within one hour; other payment modes take up to 7 working days.

Pre-arrival cancellation

  • Window, Cancellation is permitted until midnight of the day before the booked check-in date
  • Example, Booked for September 5; cancellation must be done before 11:59 PM on September 3
  • Refund, Full room rent refunded to the original payment source
  • UPI bookings, Refund credited within 1 hour

Cancellation is done through the same TTD portal where the booking was made, log in, go to My Bookings, select the accommodation booking, and click Cancel. The system confirms the refund automatically.

Cancellation after the check-in date is missed

If you do not cancel before midnight of the day prior, and you also do not check in on the booked date, TTD’s policy is clear: no cancellation, no refund. The room is allotted to the next waitlist devotee, and your booking fee is forfeit.

There is no grace period. There is no “I had a medical emergency” exception in the standard policy. Plan accordingly.

Early check-out refund schedule

TTD also incentivises pilgrims to vacate rooms early when they don’t need the full 24-hour slot, this helps the next waitlist pilgrim get a room sooner:

To claim the early check-out refund, drop the room key at the block reception and request the early check-out form. The form is logged with the exact check-in and check-out timestamps; the refund is automatic to the original payment source.

Caution deposit refund (now waived for most rooms)

TTD used to collect a caution deposit at check-in for several room categories. Effective October 24 (as per the TTD board decision), the caution deposit has been waived for common-pool rooms across Tirumala and Tirupati complexes. Where any historical caution deposit remains pending refund, it is credited via UPI within 1 hour for UPI-paid bookings, or within 7 bank working days for other modes.

Tirupati city complexes (Srinivasam, Madhavam, Vishnu Nivasam) have also waived caution deposits.

What’s never refunded

  • Bookings cancelled less than 24 hours before check-in
  • Bookings where the pilgrim simply did not arrive (no-show)
  • Penalties for property damage during stay (separate from room rent refund)
  • Darshan tickets, TTD’s blanket no-refund policy on darshan tickets applies; only accommodation is refundable under the conditions above

What about on-arrival token bookings (Rs. 50 / Rs. 100 / Rs. 150 rooms)?

These rooms are allotted on-arrival via the Tirumala token system and don’t have an online advance booking to cancel. If you receive a token but don’t take the allotted room, there is no fee charged, TTD simply reallots to the next pilgrim in queue. No refund, no penalty.

How to cancel, step by step

  1. Go to ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in and log in with your registered mobile number.
  2. Click on “My Bookings” in the dashboard.
  3. Find the accommodation booking and click Cancel.
  4. Confirm the cancellation in the popup. The system shows the refundable amount.
  5. Refund SMS arrives within an hour (UPI) or within 7 working days (card/net banking).

Common questions

Can I cancel a booking made through APSRTC package? APSRTC package cancellations follow APSRTC’s policy (bus cancellation fee applies). The TTD darshan ticket portion of the package is non-refundable per TTD’s blanket policy on darshan.

Can I modify dates instead of cancelling? No. TTD’s policy is no postponement and no advancement. To change dates, cancel the current booking (within the window) and rebook for the new date.

What if I’m cancelling because of a medical emergency? TTD does not have a special-case waiver in the standard policy. If you have a hospital admission certificate from the same date, you can write to the TTD EO office for consideration, but the standard policy is no refund after the deadline.

Where do I track the refund? TTD operates a CD (Caution Deposit) Refund Tracker on its website. For room rent refunds, check your bank account directly, the refund SMS is the official confirmation.

How long after a booking is the cancellation allowed? Until midnight of the day prior to check-in, regardless of how far in advance the booking was made. A booking made 60 days ago can still be cancelled until the day before check-in.
