How to Book a Room in Tirumala, Online and Offline TTD Accommodation Procedure

TTD operates around 7,500 rooms in Tirumala across multiple block categories, with tariffs from Rs. 50 to Rs. 2,000 per night. Rooms are allotted through two parallel systems: online advance booking (60-day window) for tariffs Rs. 500 and above, and on-arrival token-based allotment in Tirumala for Rs. 50, Rs. 100 and Rs. 150 rooms. Plus a separate set of accommodation complexes in Tirupati city, Srinivasam, Madhavam, Vishnu Nivasam, bookable online for pilgrims who want to stay below the hill and shuttle up for darshan.

Step 1, decide where you want to stay

• On Tirumala hill, walking distance to the temple; rooms book out fastest. Includes Padmavathi Rest House, Vaikuntham Rest House, HVOC blocks, MBC, Sannidhi, and various cottages.
• In Tirupati city, Srinivasam (opposite bus stand), Madhavam (near railway station), Vishnu Nivasam (near railway station). Combine with a free TTD shuttle to Alipiri tollgate for the climb up.

Tirumala-hill accommodation is the better choice if your darshan slot is early morning (before 8 AM) or late evening. Tirupati city is the more practical choice for late-arriving pilgrims (after 9 PM), large families, or pilgrims who want better dining options nearby.

Step 2, online advance booking (Rs. 500 and above)

1. Open ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in and click Login at the top right.
2. Register with your mobile number (one-time) and verify with OTP. Add the basic profile details for the head of your pilgrim group.
3. Choose Accommodation from the Pilgrim Services menu. Select Tirumala or Tirupati.
4. Pick the block / complex, the date, and the room category. Live availability appears for each tariff slab.
5. Enter the name, age, and government-issued photo ID number for every pilgrim in the booking. Children below 12 must be added at this stage; they cannot be added at check-in.
6. Pay through UPI, debit card or net banking. Save the booking confirmation PDF, you will need two printouts at check-in.

Advance booking window is 60 days from the date of booking. The daily release window, when fresh inventory for the dates 60 days out becomes available, is typically 11:00 AM IST. Weekend dates and festival weeks sell out within the same day.

Step 3, on-arrival token booking (Rs. 50, Rs. 100, Rs. 150 rooms)

Rs. 100 and lower-tariff rooms are not in the online advance pool. They are allotted on arrival in Tirumala through TTD’s token system, which has been in operation since July 12, 2024:

1. Reach Tirumala. Walk to any of the six registration counters: GNC Tollgate, Balaji Bus Stand, Kausthubham Rest House, Rambagicha Rest House, MBC (Mahati Block Counter), or CRO (Central Reception Office) General Counter.
2. Register with the head pilgrim’s Aadhaar number and mobile number, plus the count of total pilgrims and children.
3. Receive a token with a tentative allotment slot. Tokens are confirmed by SMS when a room is ready.
4. Once notified, proceed to the sub-enquiry office indicated in the SMS to collect the room key.

Realistic wait: two to six hours on weekdays. Eight hours or longer on weekends and festival days, and allotment is not guaranteed.

Step 4, documents to carry

• Two printouts of the online booking confirmation slip (if applicable)
• Original Aadhaar or government-issued photo ID for every pilgrim listed on the booking
• Mobile number registered to the head of the group (for SMS allotment notifications under the token system)
• Confirmed darshan ticket or Sarva Darshan token (rooms are typically issued only to pilgrims with a valid darshan purpose)

Step 5, check-in window and reporting

Online bookings have a reporting slot you select at booking. Reach the allotted block within six hours of the slot and the room is allotted for a 24-hour cycle. If you reach later than six hours past the slot, allotment may be denied and the fee is non-refundable.

On-arrival tokens have no reporting slot, the system allots when a room frees up. Stay close to the registration counter or keep an eye on SMS once the token is issued.

What to avoid

• Third-party “agent” sites claiming guaranteed Rs. 100 room bookings online, these are fraud. Rs. 100 rooms have never been in the online pool.
• UPI payments to individuals or WhatsApp numbers for room bookings, TTD does not accept payment outside its own portal’s payment gateway.
• “Premium” agents offering same-day Tirumala bookings for sold-out weekend dates, TTD policy is no-postponement, no-advancement, no-transfer; these “agent confirmations” are fake.

TTD has issued repeated public cautions about fake accommodation booking websites. Verify any room booking by logging into the official portal with your registered mobile and confirming the booking appears in your account.

Cancellation and modification

TTD’s stated policy: all room bookings are final. Postponement, advancement, cancellation and refund are not permitted under standard booking terms. Plan dates before booking, once paid, the room fee is committed.

Can I book a Tirumala hill room without an online TTD account? Online advance booking requires a registered account. On-arrival token-based allotment requires only photo ID and mobile number at the counter, no prior account.

Do I need a confirmed darshan ticket before booking a room? Not for online advance booking, but the registration counter for on-arrival tokens may ask. If you’re booking online for Tirumala, plan your darshan booking on the same login at the same time.
