TTD Rs. 100 Rooms in Tirumala, How Pilgrims Get Low-Cost Accommodation

Around 75% of TTD-managed accommodation in Tirumala, roughly 5,000 of 7,500 rooms, is in the Rs. 50, Rs. 100 and Rs. 150 tariff slabs. These low-cost rooms are reserved for common pilgrims and are not available through advance internet booking; allotment runs through TTD’s on-arrival token system at Tirumala.

What the Rs. 100 room actually is

The Rs. 100 tariff covers a non-air-conditioned room in one of TTD’s older or basic rest house complexes, examples include sections of the HVOC (House for Visitors / Old Cottages) blocks, Vaikuntham Rest House, Padmavathi Rest House, and dormitory-style accommodation across various blocks. Rooms vary by block; what’s consistent is that all are within walking distance of the main temple and have shared or attached bathrooms depending on block.

TTD has invested approximately Rs. 120 crore in renovating these low-tariff rooms, new geysers, replaced furniture, fresh flooring, and refurbished doors and windows, even though per-room maintenance cost is Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 per day. Rentals have not been increased to reflect this cost.

How allotment works (the on-arrival token system)

Since July 12, 2024, TTD has used a token-based allotment system for Rs. 100 / Rs. 150 rooms instead of pure first-come-first-served queues. Pilgrims register with their Aadhaar number and mobile number at any of six registration counters in Tirumala:

  • GNC Tollgate
  • Balaji Bus Stand
  • Kausthubham Rest House
  • Rambagicha Rest House
  • MBC (Mahati Block Counter)
  • CRO (Central Reception Office) General Counter

After registering, the pilgrim receives a token with a tentative allotment slot. Tokens are confirmed by SMS when a room is ready, and the pilgrim then proceeds to the relevant sub-enquiry office to collect the room key. Total wait between token issue and allotment is typically two to six hours, longer on weekends and festival days.

How to book online for higher tariff rooms

Rs. 500 and above rooms (Rs. 500, Rs. 600, Rs. 750, Rs. 1,000, Rs. 1,500, Rs. 2,000) are bookable in advance through ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. The advance booking window is currently 60 days. There is no Rs. 100 room in the online advance booking pool, that tariff is on-arrival only.

Required documents at the counter

  • Aadhaar card or valid government-issued photo ID for every pilgrim in the booking
  • Mobile number registered with the head of the group (for SMS allotment notification)
  • Confirmed darshan ticket or Sarva Darshan token (rooms are issued only to pilgrims with a valid temple visit purpose)

Realistic expectation on getting a Rs. 100 room

The Rs. 100 rooms are the most in-demand category. On weekdays (Monday afternoon to Thursday morning) allotment typically takes two to four hours after token registration. On weekends and during Brahmotsavam, festival days, or Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan, the wait can stretch beyond eight hours and allotment is not guaranteed. Pilgrims who reach Tirumala after 6 PM on a Friday should plan on either a higher tariff room or an outside private guest house for the first night.

One practical note: avoid private agents offering guaranteed Rs. 100 room bookings online. TTD has issued repeated public cautions that fake websites and brokers selling “online Rs. 100 room booking” are frauds. The Rs. 100 tariff has never been available through internet advance booking. See TTD News for current cautions.

Common questions

Can I book a Rs. 100 room online? No. Only Rs. 500-and-above rooms are in the online advance pool. Rs. 100 rooms are on-arrival, token-based, at the six in-Tirumala registration counters listed above.

What’s the difference between Rs. 50 and Rs. 100 rooms? Rs. 50 dormitory-style accommodation is allotted in older HVOC blocks with shared bathrooms. Rs. 100 rooms are mostly small private rooms with attached bathroom but no AC.

Are the rooms safe for families with young children? Yes, TTD-managed accommodation is monitored, has 24-hour security, and basic amenities have been refreshed in the Rs. 120 crore renovation cycle. Rooms include geyser, fan, and standard bedding. Bring your own toiletries.

For block-wise availability, current tariff slabs and the live token queue status, the only authoritative source is ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in and the TTD CRO information desk in Tirumala.
