TTD Suprabhata Seva at Tirumala, Booking and Procedure

Suprabhata Seva is the early-morning awakening ritual of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, the first seva of the temple’s daily cycle, performed at 3:00 AM. Sponsoring devotees are seated inside the temple’s Bangaru Vakili (gold door) area for the ritual and receive a Special Entry Darshan immediately after. The ticket cost is Rs. 120 per person, and booking runs through TTD’s online “lucky dip” system held between the 18th and 22nd of each month for the following month.

What the seva includes

  • Seating inside the Bangaru Vakili (gold-door) area during the awakening ritual
  • Witness the first puja of the day at the deity’s reclining position
  • One Special Entry Darshan immediately after the seva, Supadam route, no further queue
  • Two laddu prasadam coupons
  • Sandalwood and kumkum prasadam

The seva lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes (3:00 AM to about 3:45 AM), followed by direct darshan.

How to book (lucky-dip online system)

  1. From the 18th to 20th of each month, register for the next month’s Suprabhata seva on ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. This is a registration, not a ticket purchase, TTD selects winners by random lucky dip.
  2. Under Pilgrim Services, select Arjitha Sevas, then choose Suprabhata Seva.
  3. Enter the name and ID for each pilgrim. One ticket per person, children must have their own registration.
  4. Results are released after 20th of the month. If selected, the payment interface opens between 20th and 22nd. Pay Rs. 120 per ticket within that window or the slot is forfeit.
  5. Save the booking confirmation PDF. You will need two printouts at reporting time.

Suprabhata Seva is one of six premiere sevas allotted by lucky dip, TTD uses this system specifically because demand is far higher than supply. There is no advance “first-come-first-served” purchase for Suprabhata.

Reporting and dress code

Pilgrims must report at 2:15 AM at the Supadam Q entry gate near the main temple. Late arrivals are not admitted, the seva commences at 3:00 AM whether all sponsors are seated or not.

Dress code is strictly traditional, enforced at the Supadam gate:

  • Men: dhoti and angavastram (white or off-white traditional dhoti, no kurta-pyjama for this specific seva)
  • Women: saree with blouse (chudidar is not permitted for Suprabhata Seva)

Carry: two printouts of the confirmation, original photo ID for each pilgrim, the booking ID, and the receipt PDF if asked.

What to expect during the seva

The temple opens its Bangaru Vakili (golden door) at approximately 2:30 AM. Sponsoring devotees are escorted in batches of 6 to 10 into the area immediately outside the inner sanctum. Chief temple archakas recite the Suprabhata Stotram, the traditional Sanskrit verses that “awaken” the Lord from sleep. The recitation runs about 25 minutes. After the stotram, the curtain is drawn open for the day’s first viewing of the deity, followed by the Tomala (flower garland) and Archana (name recitation) sevas in the same session for sponsoring devotees.

Photography is not permitted at any point during Suprabhata. Phones must be left at the cloak room outside Supadam.

Offline (current booking) option

Daily current booking is available at the TTD Seva Counter at the CRO (Central Reception Office) in Tirumala, a very small inventory (typically 5 to 15 tickets per day) released at 5:00 AM for the same day’s 3 AM seva (i.e., the next 3 AM cycle). Arrive at the counter by 4:30 AM to have any chance. Same Rs. 120 cost.

Cancellation

Per TTD policy, all Arjitha Seva bookings are final. No refund, no postponement, no advancement.

Common questions

Why is Suprabhata booked by lucky dip and not advance purchase? Suprabhata is one of the temple’s most sought-after sevas, demand far exceeds the ~250 daily seats. Lucky dip is TTD’s mechanism to allocate fairly rather than reward refresh-button speed.

Can children participate? Yes, with their own ticket and ID. Under-12s do not get free entry for sevas (unlike accommodation rules). Each seat needs a paid registration.

Do I get darshan if my seva ticket is for Suprabhata? Yes, the Special Entry Darshan after the seva is included in the Rs. 120 ticket. No separate booking needed.

What if I cannot reach Tirumala by 2:15 AM reporting? The seva ticket is forfeit. TTD does not delay the seva start time for late sponsors.

For current lucky-dip schedules, ticket availability and Arjitha Seva calendar updates, only use ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in.
