Seeghra Darshan at Tirumala, Same as Rs. 300 Special Entry Darshan
Seeghra Darshan (literally “fast / quick darshan”) is the original Sanskrit / Telugu name for what is now formally called Rs. 300 Special Entry Darshan (SED) at Tirumala. The two terms refer to the same product, TTD introduced the priority queue concept on 21 September 2009 as “Seeghra Darshan“, and it has since been formally renamed Special Entry Darshan with the price set at Rs. 300. Pilgrims using either search term should get the same information: a paid priority queue ticket bookable online seven days in advance, with 2,500 tickets per day in the online quota.
The name change history
- 21 September 2009, Seeghra Darshan introduced by TTD as a faster queue option for paying pilgrims
- 27 August 2014, Advance Booking of Special Entry Darshan introduced; the product is increasingly referred to as Special Entry Darshan or SED
- Current, Both names are used. TTD’s official portal lists it as “Special Entry Darshan (Rs. 300)”; older guides and Telugu-speaking pilgrims still call it Seeghra Darshan
If you see “Seeghra Darshan”, “SED”, “Rs. 300 ticket”, or “Special Entry”, they all mean the same thing.

What’s different from older Seeghra Darshan days
Some changes from the original 2009 product to today:
- The price has been stable at Rs. 300 for many years; older guides referencing different prices may be out of date
- The reporting time enforcement is stricter, late arrivals forfeit the ticket
- The advance booking window has changed from 30 days to 7 days as TTD adjusted demand management
- Aadhaar requirement is universal now; passport accepted in lieu for non-residents
- Dress code is enforced more consistently at the gate
Reporting and entry
The ticket specifies a reporting time. Report at the Vaikuntam Queue Complex Special Entry / Direct Line gate (VQC-I) within the reporting window. TTD’s stated rule: the right of entry is forfeited if a pilgrim does not report before the expiry of the admission time printed on the ticket.
Carry: two printouts of the booking confirmation, original photo ID for every pilgrim listed, and the booking ID separately written down (in case of phone battery loss).
Dress code (enforced at the gate)
- Men: dhoti / pyjama with kurta or shirt. No shorts, jeans, or skin-tight clothing.
- Women: saree, half-saree, or chudidar with dupatta covering the chest.
Pilgrims out of dress code are turned back without refund.

Common questions
Why are there two names for the same product? Linguistic history, “Seeghra” is the original Sanskrit / Telugu name used since 2009; “Special Entry Darshan” is the formal English / administrative name TTD uses on the portal and signage. They refer to the same Rs. 300 priority queue ticket.
Is Seeghra Darshan available in current booking? Yes, TTD operates a current booking counter for Rs. 300 SED in Tirupati. Walk-up, limited inventory, opens early morning. Useful for pilgrims without online booking access.
Is Seeghra Darshan available for the same day? Sometimes, the current booking counter in Tirupati allows same-day booking subject to availability. Online booking is only for 7 days ahead, not same day.
Can I upgrade from Sarva Darshan to Seeghra Darshan after reaching Tirumala? Not directly, you’d need to book a fresh Rs. 300 ticket through the current booking counter and not use the Sarva Darshan token.
Is Seeghra Darshan available to foreigners? Yes, passport accepted in lieu of Aadhaar. Same Rs. 300 price.
